Tim Knight
Tim is the Founder and Managing Director of Knight & Associates, a boutique retained search firm, focusing on financial services search in sponsor finance, asset based lending and commercial lending.
Since leaving the day-to-day leadership of ThinkingAhead after 26 years in the capable hands of the team he helped build, Tim’s new firm, Knight & Associates, allows him to focus all his personal energies and resources on search projects.
At ThinkingAhead, Tim was Vice President and Senior Managing Partner, responsible for operations, training and recruiting for the firm. During his tenure, he led the firm’s Commercial Banking and Commercial Finance, Legal, Life Sciences and Energy search practices. Prior to joining ThinkingAhead, he was with Southwestern Advantage as a District Sales Manager recruiting and training salespeople. Including his college summers, Tim was with Southwestern Family of Companies for thirty-nine years until starting his own search practice. In 2025, Tim began his twenty-ninth year in executive search.
During his search career, Tim personally filled over 600 engagements for clients and his teams accomplished over 2600 engagements filled.
Tim is a Certified Personnel Consultant, a board member of the Secured Finance Network, a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth. Tim is often asked to speak at association and recruiting industry events around the country.
He lives in Brentwood, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, and is active in his local community. He is the past president of the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity in Williamson County. He is a longtime volunteer for Junior Achievement and past chairman of the United Way campaign for Southwestern.
