Carolyn has been a Pinnacle Society Member since 2006.
She has worked in recruiting since 1988, and specifically Accounting and Finance Recruiting since 1993 and is the Managing Principal of the Merito Group, a talent acquisition consulting firm.
Prior to forming the Merito Group she led a large group of outsourced recruiters for the national CPA firm Dixon Hughes Goodman and spent over 10 years in leadership and management with large international search organizations.
She has successfully completed many executive level searches across the country in a wide variety of industries. Besides being an avid networker, Carolyn employs innovative data driven recruiting and sourcing techniques utilizing state of the art technology, KPIs and metrics to exceed client expectations. She has a depth and breadth of knowledge few recruiters possess; this includes operational understanding of federal, state and local government, government contracting, Fortune 500 corporations as well as small and mid sized companies; both publicly traded and privately held. Her personal network of contacts includes influential executives and business leaders across the world.
Carolyn has launched many companies including BioPharma Global which employs many talented and dedicated regulatory affairs professionals and PhD scientists who obtain FDA and EMA approvals for drugs treating rare diseases. 1 in 20 people is either related to someone or personally affected by one of the 7000 diseases defined as a rare disease which, in the US, means less than 200,000 people are diagnosed with the disease. BioPharma Global‘s client base spans the globe and serves innovative biotech, pharmaceutical and scientific research companies on multiple continents.
Additionally, her online retailer ResellXL.com initially created as a consignment retailer for plus size designer clothing is now also serving as a software incubator for interns working on open source development projects for international consignment store use on the Shopify platform.
Carolyn serves on the board of the Girl Scouts of the Nations Capital, was the Founding Board Chair of the Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative (wwli.org) which now has over 300 members, is a Trustee of Kansas State University and has an endowed scholarship in entrepreneurship in her married name of Carol LaFlamme as of 2018.
Carolyn is an active member of many professional associations including the Association for Corporate Growth which focuses on middle market company M&A activity, she is an International Coach Federation credentialed career coach and an active member of the National Speakers Association. Carolyn is an Approved Continuing Education provider for the International Coach Federation, the American Staffing Association and the National Association of Personnel Services. She has authored three books: TEN EASY STEPS TO A PERFECT RESUME, TEN STEPS TO FINDING THE PERFECT JOB and TEN SECRETS TO GETTING PROMOTED which are available in select bookstores and on Amazon.
A frequent contributor to national news organizations like CNN, MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal and NPR to name a few, Carolyn acts as an advisor on the board of several small companies and non-profits across the country. Carolyn’s husband Jim is a fellow with the ACHE as well as a former Big 4 Healthcare Executive and currently CEO of BioPharma Global.
